Head-to-head record could be used to separate Hibs and Falkirk

Hibs will clinch second place in the Championship table if they end up level on points, goal difference and goals scored with rivals Falkirk, the SPFL confirmed today.

The Easter Road outfit enjoy a better head-to-head record between the sides and that would see them finish second and consequently face two fewer play-off matches should such a scenario arise following the final round of fixtures on Sunday when Hibs play Queen of the South and Falkirk take on Morton.

Both teams currently have 67 points, with Falkirk in second spot as they are three goals better off than Hibs, having scored 60 this season in comparison to Hibs’ 57. Both teams have conceded 34 goals.

Three of the games between the clubs this season ended in draws but, crucially, Hibs won at Falkirk back in October thanks to a contentious Jason Cummings penalty.
