With around 130 players in the Scottish Premiership out of contract at the end of the season there are a number who would be of interest to Hearts and Hibs. Daniel Stendel and Jack Ross will both likely be keen to reshape their squad in the summer and free agents could prove a useful way to do so without having to spend money or break budget.
5. Richard Tait - Motherwell
The defender has been a dependable individual for the Steelmen across a number of seasons. Can play either left or right-back and is an excellent crosser when supporting in the final third. Photo: SNS Group Rob Casey
6. Chris Long - Motherwell
The 24-year-old has been a canny attacking option for Motherwell. Five goals in 14 starts in the league, he has a good turn of pace, decent movement and is adept at creating chances for himself. Photo: SNS Group Rob Casey
7. Mark Gillespie - Motherwell
Usurped Trevor Carson as the Steelmen's No.1. Although he has had his moments, Gillespie has largely been an impressive performer. No goalkeeper has made more saves in the league this season. Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group
8. Jon Flanagan - Rangers
Another versatile defender. Has dropped down the pecking order at Ibrox but has showed his capability at right and left-back. Would arrive with off-field baggage. Photo: Alan Harvey - SNS Group
