Hearts returned to the Scottish Premiership at the first time of asking, winning the Championship by 12 games over a truncated 27-game season.

It wasn’t without its hiccups along the way, however.

After a thumping start, beating Dundee 6-2 in the league opener, Hearts took control of the division despite defeat from Dunfermline Athletic, while knocking Hibs out of the Scottish Cup at the semi-final stage to set up a finale with Celtic.

An agonising defeat on penalty knocked the stuffing out of the team it seemed with the league leaders embarking on an inconsistent two or three months before finishing the league strongly with confident displays to secure the league title.

Within that, however, was a Scottish Cup defeat to Highland side Brora Rangers, regarded as perhaps the worst loss in the club’s history.

But ultimately, the main objective of getting back to the Premiership was achieved.

We have launched our Big Hearts Survey and it closes Friday at midnight – we want to know your views on the season just gone, what next for Hearts and the type of players they should be targeting this summer.

We want your views on everything. How you rated the campaign just past, what you made of Robbie Neilson’s first season back in charge and on the players who exceeded expectations and those who perhaps fell short.

We also want to know what you have made of recruitment and where you would like to see Hearts recruit next season.

And, of course, we want your view on the 2021/22 campaign.
