Clevid Dikamona has revealed he still feels like a Hearts player.

The Congolese international has returned to France after asking the club to cancel his contract following Hearts’ wage cut request to staff due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The 29-year-old’s contract expired at the end of May, and said last month that he would be keen to return to the club and sign a new deal for next season.

He said: “As I have indicated I am also ready to re-sign a contract with the club as soon as the situation will be clear, and especially if the club wishes to make me a new contractual proposal – because as everyone knows I am attached to this club and Hearts will be my priority for next season.”

The player took part in a Q&A on his official Instagram where he reiterated his connection with Hearts but confirmed his departure when asked if he was leaving the club.

“On the paper yes, but I still feel like a Hearts player,” he said.

Dikamona answered a range of questions as he named Arnaud Djoum as the best player he has played with at Tynecastle and revealed the aspect of Edinburgh he will miss most is the drive to Tynecastle and the smell of the area.

The centre-back put in one of his most memorable performances for the club in the 3-1 win over Hibs at the start of March. One fan asked him if he still had Martin Boyle in his back pocket which prompted Dikamona to issue a laughing response, but it was another derby which is his favourite game for the club.

He recalled: “Hibs v Hearts. 0-1. December 2018. I played 90 mins without training during the previous 15 days, we won and I drove eight hours straight after the game back to France.”

Dikamona seemed to leave his best performances for Edinburgh derbies, helping develop a cult hero reputation amongst the support.

One question relating to Hibs he received was asking how much he disliked the Easter Road side on a scale of 1-10. The defender simply answered: “Who??”.

A supporter even asked: “Clevid would you sleep with my wife?”

Dikamona said: “My wife will not be ok.”
