Hearts plan to add at least one more new signing this week - with manager Daniel Stendel focused on another striker.

The capture of Liam Boyce paid dividends with his winning goal against Rangers on Sunday and Stendel intends to recruit another forward before Friday's transfer deadline.

Funds are in place for further additions to the Tynecastle first-team squad and the German told the Evening News that he wants to use them.

Boyce and Toby Sibbick made impressive debuts against Rangers, whilst recent capture Donis Avdijaj was an unused substitute.

Boyce's winner secured a 2-1 victory as Hearts closed to within a point of second-bottom Hamilton in their quest to avoid relegation from the Ladbrokes Premiership.

There could now be another new arrival before Saturday's trip to face St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.

"We are looking for a striker," said Stendel. "When we have the chance to sign one player who can help us in this situation, the club is ready to do it.

"This is a good sign for me, that we all want the same. We have five days so, when there is a chance there, we will try."

Asked if he might also strengthen other areas of his team, Stendel replied: "Maybe, yes, but it is not so close that we can say 'yes'.

"We are looking for a striker but we are looking for good players, not only for six months but for the future."

More departures are also expected before the end of the week as Stendel continues reshaping his squad. Glenn Whelan, Jake Mulraney, Aidan Keena and Kevin Silva have already gone, while Craig Wighton and Rory Currie have been loaned out.
