Ex-Hearts boss Daniel Stendel in running for English job but unsure of terms

Pompey parted company with manager Kenny Jackett over the weekend following the EFL Trophy final loss to Salford at Wembley.

The club sit seventh in the English third tier outside of the play-off spots.

Stendel has been pinpointed by the Portsmouth hierarchy as a possible replacement, according to the Evening News’ sister title The News.

The German has previous in League One, guiding Barnsley out of the division and into the Championship in 2019.

However, Stendel, who has been ‘sounded out’, is understood to be wary of the caretaker role and wants a longer commitment from the club.

The 46-year-old has been out of work since leaving Hearts last summer following the club’s demotion to the Championship.

There Has been links with German second tier side VfL Osnabrück as well as French side Nancy who play in Ligue 2.
