Lafferty made the switch to ambitious Serie B side Reggina in July, making his debut at the weekend as a late sub in 1-1 draw with Salernitana.

The Northern Irishman netted the winner against Teramo in the second round on Wednesday. It set up an away tie with the Serie A side.

Hickey made his debut for Bologna on Monday night in a 4-1 win over local rivals Parma, earning praise from manager Siniša Mihajlović and a standing ovation from the fans allowed into the Renato Dall'Ara Stadium.

Hickey and Lafferty never played in the same XI with the latter joining Rangers before the former made his debut.

The fixture is due to be played on 28 October.
