Picking up the ball just inside the Hibs half, he embarked on a mazy run which saw him skip past five opposition players before passing the ball past Mark Brown.

The Hamilton Accies forward responded to a tweet from the SPFL showcasing the goal with the reply: “Still my favourite goal”.

It came in a 2-0 win at Easter Road in the November of the 2010/11 season.

That campaign saw Hearts, managed by Jim Jefferies, mount a title bid which eventually faltered with the club finishing third.

Jefferies had put together an attacking and exciting frontline which included Kevin Kyle, Templeton, Stephen Elliott and Rudi Skacel.

The quartet scored 38 goals between them.

Kyle and Elliott both joined Templeton in a trip down memory lane on Twitter about the goal and the season.

Elliott called the winger “unplayable at times” with Templeton thanking him for “doing that graveyard shift” on the other side which made it easier for him and Kyle.

The target man, a fan favourite at Tynecastle, sought to mention Hibs defender Sol Bamba’s role in the goal as he was twisted inside and out.

Templeton asked Kyle: “You not do him for the header for sleeves [Elliott’s] goal as well?”

All three players were involved in that goal. Kyle steered a header in the direction of Templeton who nudged it to Elliott to fire into the net.

The Open Goal pundit tweeted: “Yeah he couldn’t win a raffle that day never mind a header.”
