The former Hearts caretaker manager has been out of football following the expiration of his contract at Tynecastle last summer.

He now joins Brian Priske’s side as they chase their second consecutive Danish title. They are one point behind leaders Brondby as they aim to build on the financial reward which came from qualifying for the Champions League group stages for the first time in their history earlier this campaign.

MacPhee initially joined Hearts as assistant to Ian Cathro before remaining in the role when director of football Craig Levein returned to the dugout.

After Levein was relieved of his duties as manager, MacPhee took over for a short interim spell before the arrival of Daniel Stendel.

He was soon informed by the German he was no longer wanted on the coaching staff but saw out the rest of his contract doing work behind the scenes.
