Former Hearts striker impressed by trio as he sees how Jambos can put Celtic under pressure at Parkhead

The former Hearts striker has been looking ahead to the club’s clash vs Celtic.

A former Hearts striker senses an attacking performance from the club could see them put Celtic under real pressure at Parkhead.

After a 1-1 draw with Nordsjaelland in the Conference League midweek, the Jambos managed by Wouter Vrancken take on the Premiership champions, in an emotionally-charged match. It’s the first game Hearts have played in Glasgow’s east-end since they painfully lost to the Hoops on the final day of last season, relinquishing a glorious chance to win the league title.

Conor Sammon has been impressed by what the likes of Josh McPake, Claudio Braga and Calvin Miller have brought to the club in terms of an attacking force. The former striker feels Hearts getting at Celtic and asking questions of their defence could be key to getting a big result. Celtic lost 4-1 at Benfica on Thursday in the Europa League following victory against Motherwell.

Conor Sammon on Hearts

Sammon told the Scottish Football Podcast: "Hearts had that home game in Europe on Thursday night. Although they'll be disappointed they conceded a late equaliser, they go into this one still feeling confident. You think of the last time the two teams faced each other at Parkhead and the drama that happened on that occasion.

"It's a good test for Hearts to really see where they're at under Wouter Vrancken. They are the top scorers in the league just now. They've got a great attacking threat with Josh McPake, Calvin Miller and Claudio Braga.

"They've got goals throughout the team and it's going to be fascinating to see if they can produce the kind of performance they have shown they're capable of since the new manager has gone in. Celtic, after getting their good result against Motherwell in the league, it's a different test and a much tougher test against Hearts.

How could Hearts cause Celtic problems at Parkhead?

"Results-wise they've been quite consistent and they've been at the top of the league. But it's still a real testing time for them and if you're a Hearts player heading into this game, you're thinking you've got a great opportunity here.

"Given the fact defensively, they definitely don't look to be keeping clean sheets. They're conceding opportunities and chances and against the better teams, you're going to get punished.

"With the form the Hearts attackers have, it's going to be fascinating to see how the game unfolds. If Hearts can put Celtic on the back foot and make them defend, it could be uncomfortable for them."
