Hearts agree a transfer deal for Falkirk winger Calvin Miller
Tynecastle business hotting up ahead of season 2026/27
Calvin Miller is set to become a Hearts player this week after the Edinburgh club agreed terms with Falkirk. The 28-year-old winger is ready to move to Tynecastle Park following nine goals and 11 assists for Falkirk this season. The deal is almost complete and Miller will undergo a medical before putting pen to paper.
His Falkirk contract runs until summer 2027 but Hearts followed up their initial interest with an offer which Falkirk have accepted. They anticipated moves for Miller on the back of his impressive campaign as he helped John McGlynn’s newly-promoted team secure a top-six place in the Premiership table.
Other clubs also showed interest, however the wide man is preparing to continue his career at Hearts. There is no player-swap involved and Miller will be making the move for a transfer fee, which is expected to be a six-figure sum. He is the latest winger added to a Riccarton squad which already includes Alexandros Kyzirids, Sabah Kerjota, Islam Chesnokov and Rogers Mato. Chesnokov has options to leave Hearts this summer with interest from former club Tobol Kostanay and others in his native Kazakhstan.
Hearts have already secured St Johnstone winger Josh McPake on a pre-contract agreement for next season, and last week they welcomed 20-year-old English centre-back MJ Kamson-Kamara to Edinburgh from Lincoln City. French midfielder Tom Renaud is also preparing to switch to Scotland after committing his future to Hearts.
Progress is being made regarding a deal for the French forward Amadou Ba-Sy, who plays in France’s Championnat National with Rouen. It is understood that move is edging nearer. Hearts also want to sign Malachi Fagan-Walcott from York City but their six-figure offers for the defender have so far been rejected. They are now considering whether to submit another bid or look at other options.
Miller’s stock has risen steadily in Scotland since he joined Falkirk from Morton in 2023. He played a significant role in back-to-back promotions as McGlynn guided the club from League One to the Premiership. Recent months have seen the player earn regular plaudits and even some talk of a Scotland call-up.
McGlynn publicly endorsed Miller as one of the most entertaining wide players in the country amid talk of international recognition. “Calvin’s got flair and great pace. There are not that many real wingers kicking about,” said the Falkirk manager near the end of the season. “He’s got skill, he’s what you pay to see, and now he’s doing it at the top level. It’s just about maturing and getting a bit of confidence.
“It’s about getting people to believe in you and giving you the platform to go and produce the goods. Calvin would give you a lot of options because you can play him either side, he’s got great delivery. I’m sure he was in Steve Clarke’s thoughts. When you look at it, we’ve not got an awful lot to change games there. If you want to go with wingers, it’s pretty difficult.”
