Wingers Josh Ginnelly and Elliott Frear are back training and striker Liam Boyce is also pushing to be ready in time.

Ginnelly has not played since October 23 because of a thigh injury, while Frear and Boyce are both nursing hamstring complaints.

Boyce was among the substitutes for Hearts’ 2-0 win at Morton last Saturday but chose not to go on near the end as he did not feel 100 per cent.

He was given treatment at Riccarton today and is set to resume training on Tuesday.

“There are a couple of niggles here and there within the squad but they should all be ready for Saturday,” Hearts manager Robbie Neilson told the Evening News.

“We've got Frear back in full training and Ginnelly is doing part of the training. Hopefully we'll have both of them for the weekend, which would be great.

"It would be good to get some minutes in their legs before they go into a cup final next weekend. Firstly, it's just getting through training this week. Then we'll see if they're available for the Queen of the South match.

"Boyce had some treatment and will train tomorrow. He should be fine for the rest of the week and be available for Saturday.”

Ginnelly’s return would be considered a huge boost for Hearts ahead of the Scottish Cup final with Celtic a week on Sunday.

The on-loan Preston North End player made an exciting start to his time in Scotland before injury struck at Arbroath.
