Hearts and Hibs learn referee appointments for weekend fixtures against Kilmarnock and Motherwell

John Beaton has been tasked with overseeing Hibs' home clash with Motherwell

Hearts and Hibs have discovered which referees and officials will take charge of their respective games this weekend.

Bobby Madden has been appointed to oversee the Jambos' trip to Kilmarnock, while John Beaton is the man in the middle for Jack Ross's first match as Easter Road head coach.

Madden has taken charge of just four Scottish Premiership games this season, including the September Old Firm clash, and is yet to referee a Hearts league match - although he was in charge for the Tynecastle side's 2-1 win at Motherwell in the Betfred Cup round of 16.

In his four top-flight games, Madden has booked seven players, sent off two and awarded two penalties - both spot-kicks coming in Rangers' 5-0 win over Aberdeen on September 28.

He is assisted by Jordan Stokoe and Gary Hilland while the fourth official is Graham Beaton.

Beaton handed Hibs tie

The Jack Ross era at Easter Road begins with a home match against Motherwell, and John Beaton has been appointed to oversee the clash in the Capital.

The 37-year-old official has taken charge of two Hibs games in his six Scottish Premiership appearances so far this term - the 6-1 loss to Rangers at Ibrox and 1-1 draw at Hamilton.

Beaton has cautioned 15 players and sent off one - Hibs defender Sean Mackie in the 6-1 game - and awarded one penalty so far this term.

Saturday's match will be his 28th game involving Hibs - the Hibees have won just eight out of 27 matches so fatr, drawing nine and losing ten. In those 27 games the whistler has dished out 52 yellows, four reds and has awarded four penalties.

Beaton is assisted by Sean Carr and Gordon Crawford, with Nick Walsh named fourth official.
