Hearts and Hibs fans continue to back their clubs in huge numbers.

The Edinburgh rivals have both passed the 11,000 mark for season ticket sales, despite the fact there is still no date as to when fans can return to stadiums.

Outside of Celtic and Rangers the Capital duo have by far sold the most number of tickets for the 2020/21 campaign.

With Hearts’ season still to kick off and Hibs, who dropped their first points of the season on Saturday, playing behind closed doors, it has shown how much fans are keen to simply support their teams financially.

It was hoped in some circles fans could return in limited numbers in September or October, however that could be pushed back with the recent events in Scottish football, namely Aberdeen players being tested for coronavirus and Celtic’s Boli Bolingoli flouting quarantine guidelines.

Hearts were last week banned from training by the Scottish FA and SPFL’s Joint Response Group with only Premiership clubs allowed to do so until 24 August.

It was a decision which brought sympathy from Easter Road boss Jack Ross and angered the Tynecastle side, keen to be well prepared for the Scottish Cup semi-final meeting with Hibs at the end of October or beginning of November with a place in December’s final against Aberdeen or Celtic at stake.

As well as season ticket sales, fans of the Edinburgh pair have supported their clubs in a number of different ways.

Hibs recorded record sales for their home kit emblazoned with the ‘Thank You NHS’ message, while the Foundation of Hearts have seen a surge in pledges with the group recently handing over their largest monthly figure to the club.
