Hearts midfielder Toby Sibbick is a doubt for the team’s crucial relegation encounter with St Mirren on Friday night.

The 20-year-old has not featured since being replaced during the 3-3 draw with St Johnstone at the start of February.

Stendel, who signed the versatile Englishman from former club Barnsley, is doubtful he will be 100 percent fit to face the Buddies.

“He’s still ill, he’s not trained for two weeks,” the Hearts boss said. “When will he come back? Maybe this week but hopefully next week.

“He also needs a little bit of time to have the condition to play 90 minutes.”

Stendel has admitted that the fitness of some squad members is being monitored after a hectic period of league and Scottish Cup fixtures.

“We need to look after the fitness of some players that played a lot of games,” he said. “I know every team played a lot of games in the last three weeks.

“Some players have some problems but they want to help, they want to play and we need to recover the players so they are fit to play on Friday.”
