Dundee have been linked with a move for out-of-favour Hearts defender Christophe Berra, but the Dens Park side could face competition from rivals Queen of the South, according to reports.

The Sunday Mail claims both sides are keen to get a deal done for the centre-back and have made contact with the Tynecastle side while Partick Thistle were also interested but have turned their attentions to other targets.

The 34-year-old defender has been informed he has no future at the Capital club and is training with the Jambos' reserves, but is understood to be open to a move this month.

Berra was offered to St Johnstone as a makeweight in a deal for winger Matty Kennedy, who eventually joined Aberdeen, but Dark Blues boss James McPake is looking to bolster his squad as Dundee push for a play-off place in Scotland's second tier.
