The 37-year-old Scotland internationalist is back at Hearts for a second spell after leaving Celtic in the summer.

He is already proving his worth, making a stunning save from Danny Mullen as Hearts began their Championship campaign with a 6-2 victory over Dundee at Tynecastle.

Neilson, who played with Gordon between 2001 and 2007 in Gorgie, believes the 54-times capped stopper is of the highest calibre and is delighted to have him in his ranks.

"He's just a top, top keeper,” Neilson told the Evening News.

"I'm just so lucky to have him and although we don't have anybody here to watch him, the fans should enjoy him as much as they can because he's a professional at the top of his level.

"Some of the saves he pulls off are frightening."
