The opening of the window was marked with a flurry of activity and the expected speculation and rumour as you would expect but it has taken a background role these past couple of weeks with more important situations in Scotland arising, namely Celtic trip to Dubai and the fallout and the postponement of all football below the Championship after lockdown guidelines were altered by the Scottish Government to combat the rising number of Covid-19 infections.

With the days of transfer business numbered there has been the expected increase in movement. Rangers were busy on Monday, confirming the signing of Scott Wright from Aberdeen on a pre-contract agreement and extending Nathan Patterson’s deal. Meanwhile, Glenn Middleton was moved on loan to St Johnstone.

It was also an interesting day in Edinburgh to start the week with Hibs midfielder Stevie Mallan linked with a move to Turkey as Hearts sprung a surprise with the signing of Armand Gnanduillet.

More business is expected at Tynecastle, possibly at Easter Road, while Rangers will continue to work on pre-contract deals for targets. It has been surprisingly quiet at Celtic despite their league struggles. Aberdeen aren’t expected to do much business but Ross County are looking to add more, as are Hamilton.

A smattering of loan moves from Premiership to Championship in the coming days would not suprise.

We will have all the latest from around the SPFL as and when it happens throughout the day.
