Premiership starlets on the move

Dunfermline Athletic have snapped up Hibs midfielder Fraser Murray and Rangers centre-back Lewis Mayo on season-long loans.

Mayo is highly-rated at Ibrox, signing a new three-year-deal at the end of last month. He previously had a loan spell at Partick Thistle.

Murray has 30 appearances for Hibs and has been around the first-team for a couple of seasons.

Meanwhile, Josh McPake has also left Rangers, joining Greenock Morton on loan.

The winger had a stint at Dundee last season.

He is joined at Morton by Hamilton defender Markus Fjortoft, forward James Wallace and defender Michael Ledger.

Kent close to England call

Rangers No.2 Gary McAllister reckons Ryan Kent can't be far off an England call-up.

The 23-year-old has greatly impressed this season and was the star of the show as the Ibrox side dismantled Willem II in Europa League qualifying.

McAllister said: "What I'd say is that when he's performing the way he did against a team from Holland, Williem II are a good side who are in the Europa League on merit, then he must be getting close.

"There is a push towards younger players with the England set-up under Gareth Southgate. And Ryan is exciting.”

Champions League possibility

Rangers have a huge chance to provide Scottish football with a huge European boost when they face Galatasaray in the Europa League play-off round.

Scotland are just behind Turkey in the Uefa coefficient at 12th.

Knocking Galatasaray out of Europe would leave Turkey with just one representative in European competition, Basaksehir. It would make it difficult for them to score decent points.

If Scotland reach 11th in the coefficient they will be guaranteed a spot in the Champions League group stage.

Paterson on the move?

Ex-Hearts ace Callum Paterson could be set to join Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls are in talks with Cardiff City over a move for the versatile ace.

Paterson is a popular figure for the Bluebird having played over 100 times and helped the club reach the Premier League back in 2019.

Edouard tipped to exit

Ex-Celtic forward Andy Walker reckons his former club may cash in on star striker Odsonne Edouard.

The Sky Sports pundit claims the Scottish champions are burning through money with no fans coming through the gates.

He said: "Celtic's Odsonne Edouard is clearly destined to eventually play in a bigger league. He was voted by the Scottish football writers as their player of the year last season and it was an easy call to make.

"He is an outstanding talent, capable of playing for a top-six club in the Premier League and I wouldn't be at all surprised if Celtic took money for him now given how much cash they are burning every month with very little coming in.

Hibs chief's commitment

Hibs owner Ron Gordon has reiterated his commitment to the club, while confirming he has rejected interest in his shares.

He said "Do I regret making this investment? Absolutely not. Has it been difficult from a business perspective? Absolutely. But from every other perspective it's been absolutely rewarding.

"I want to be part of Hibernian for a long time and I want to make a difference at the club."
