Cole Stockton has left Hearts by mutual consent, with Carlisle United expected to sign the 23-year-old striker.
The League Two club have held talks with Stockton and he is now free to join a new team after severing ties at Tynecastle.
He was deemed surplus to requirements at Tynecastle Park despite signing a two-year contract last summer upon his arrival from Tranmere Rovers.
A statement on the Hearts website read: "Cole Stockton has today left Hearts by mutual consent. The 23-year-old leaves Tynecastle in the search of regular first-team football.
"Cole joined Hearts in June of last year and made 15 appearances in a maroon jersey. The club would like to wish him well with his career."
