Former Hearts star Craig Gordon has confirmed he has received offers from two Premiership clubs.

The goalkeeper is a free agent after his Celtic contract expired and has been linked with a move to St Mirren, while he is reportedly still a Hearts target.

There was strong talk of a return to Tynecastle in January which didn’t materialise with Daniel Stendel focusing on other priorities.

Gordon revealed the Buddies have made him a “good offer” and that the Scottish champions are still trying to tie him down on a new contract, while confirming interest from elsewhere.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun, he noted that it was only when his contract ended that he “got any inclination Celtic wanted to talk and maybe extend things”.

However, their offer on reduced terms has not been accepted by Gordon.

“With Celtic, the ball is in their court,” he said. “They’ve made an offer but they know they’ll need to come back with something better.

“My contract has lapsed and I’m free to talk to anybody. That’s what I intend to do over the next few weeks.

“St Mirren have made me a good offer and other clubs have also been in touch. As things stand I haven’t closed the door on anybody.”

The 37-year-old joined Celtic in 2014, playing more than 240 times, winning 12 trophies during his time at Parkhead.

He lost his place as No.1 during the 2018/19 campaign to Scott Fox and played second fiddle to Fraser Forster last season, something he admits he “wasn’t particularly happy about”.

Gordon still feels he has a number of years of his career left having missed nearly three seasons due to injury and wants to win back the Scotland No.1 position.

“I still feel fit and ready to play at the highest level,” he said.

“I feel I could go on for quite a few years yet and don’t see anything stopping me. I certainly don’t see any reason why I can’t play beyond my 40th birthday.

“I certainly have the hunger for that right now. I’m still very driven to be the very best I can be and, ultimately, be successful.”
