Hearts will be backed by 1,500 fans for their vital relegation encounter with St Mirren on Friday night.

Despite the club’s form, performance in the draw with Hamilton and the match being shown live on TV, fans have snapped up the briefs for the match in Paisley, selling out the away allocation.

Daniel Stendel’s men go into the clash one point adrift at the bottom of the Ladbrokes Premiership following the 2-2 draw with Accies on Saturday when the team had to come from 2-0 down to rescue a point at Tynecastle.

St Mirren are three points ahead of Hearts but have a game in hand after their clash with Motherwell at Fir Park was postponed at the weekend.

Stendel called on his players to give more for the fans after the draw with Hamilton. A point he reiterated in his pre-match press conference.

He said: “We need players who understand that it is a big privilege to play for this club. It is not normal that 16,000 or 17,000 come to every game at Tynecastle with the results we have been getting this season. In Germany, with these results, we would get 5,000 or even 2,000 in the stadium if we gave these performances.

“Here, we get the support every week, also in away games, so they are playing for a big club in Scotland and they are all on good contracts here. Everybody can expect them to do all that they can to stay up in this league and win games. This is what I expect and this is what all the supporters expect from professional footballers.”

The club are showing the match with St Mirren live in the supporters’ bar at Tynecastle.
