Hibs and Hearts learn new SPFL season 2021-22 dates including Premiership winter break

Hearts will benefit from the restoration of the SPFL winter break in season 2021-22 – if they see their Championship promotion win through over the coming weeks.

An indicative matchday calendar with key-dates for the new campaign has been released – including start dates and the Betfred Cup format.

The Cup will again precede the league kick-off, and the group stage starts on July 10 with five games played over two midweeks and three weekends throughout July.

Hibs’ Scottish Premiership season 2021-22 will begin on the weekend of July 31 in line with the the remainder of the Scottish Professional Football League.

The re-introduced winter break will slot into the calendar after the traditional New Year fixtures and Hearts will be looking to join their city rivals on sabbatical for three weeks in January.

Finer details like specific fixtures and match-ups will be announced in June, once the small matter of league placings and 2020-21 promotion and relegation is settled.
