The Tynecastle club are expected to make a first-season return to the top flight as they currently sit 11 points clear at the top of the Scottish Championship.

Hibs fans have obviously taken great pleasure in the plight of their cross-city neighbours this term, but Gordon wants to see them return to bring the Edinburgh derby back into regular rotation.

He told the Scottish Sun: “It is good for football and good for Edinburgh — just so long as we win the derby!

“But, yes, I think they are a big club and they deserve to be in the Premiership. So it would be great to have them back.”

Robbie Neilson’s side have struggled for form in 2021 with fans calling for the manager to be replaced and changes at boardroom level.
