Jamie Walker’s goal was the difference. The forward replaced Steven Naismith off the bench having surprisingly been omitted after his fine performance against Raith Rovers during the week. He turned brilliantly and found the bottom corner with a fine strike.
It wasn’t easy for Hearts. Dunfermline were arguably the better side over the course of the game with Craig Gordon once again in inspired form between the sticks. One save in particular will be added to an ever-increasing highlights reel.
Next up for the league leaders is a trip to Ayr United in front of the BBC Scotland cameras on Friday, while more transfer business is likely before the window shuts on Monday at midnight.
So, back to the game, how did the players involved fare?

A game changer once again. A nice early save to push the ball around the post was bread and butter compared to the point-blank stop from Dow, pushing the ball out, up and over the bar. Just incredible. Photo: Ross Parker - SNS Group

Asked a few questions by Fraser Murray but saw him off. Set up Jamie Walker for the crucial opener. Photo: Ross MacDonald - SNS Group

Got caught up in a physical battle with Declan McManus. The Dunfermline attacker may have just edged it at times but was eventually subbed. A couple of indecisive moments with the ball. Photo: Euan Cherry - SNS Group

Stronger performance from the centre-back. Swept up well, won his headers and came up with big blocks. Photo: Mark Scates - SNS Group
