Zdenek Zlamal - 7

Brilliant first-half save to deny Cammy Macpherson and had another save to keep out Alex Jakubiak shortly after the opener.

Michael Smith - 6

Defended soundly and tried to inspire those around him. Set up Hearts' best chance with fine cutback.

Testing night for the centre-back but stuck to his task. Unconvincing on the ball but won most of his headers. Unable to stop Obika netting the only goal.

Craig Halkett - 5

Had to withstand a lot of St Mirren pressure in first half but stood up to most of it. Will have been disappointed at how Obika got in for the goal. Finished the game up front.

Aaron Hickey - 6

The teenager again impressed as other far more experienced team-mates struggled to impose themselves.

Sean Clare - 4

Started on the right wing, switched to the left and was subbed at half-time having been unable to make any notable impact.

Oliver Bozanic - 4

Failed to replicate his recent big-game exploits and was subbed just before the hour.

Loic Damour - 3

A terrible night for the Frenchman. First half passed him by. Gifted Saints possession cheaply in lead-up to goal. Cheers went up from the away end when he was eventually subbed.

Lewis Moore - 5

The winger struggled to make any inroads in the final third. Had a couple of late chances.

Steven Naismith - 4

A couple of neat touches aside, the captain had a bad night. Unable to get into the game.

Conor Washington - 4

The Northern Irishman worked hard but endured a frustrating night. Spurned his team's only clear chance from Smith cutback.

Subs:

Liam Boyce - 4

On at the break but made very little impact.

Andy Irving - 6

On for Bozanic and sparked a slight upturn with his composure in midfield.

Ryotaro Meshino - 5

Brought some much-needed spark and intensity to Hearts' play in closing stages.
