Rovers provided a stiff test to players who may have not seen much game time, while Neilson also altered formation.

A couple of comfortable first-half saves. Wasn’t overly decisive off his line causing a couple of uneasy moments. Question marks over positioning for Duku's goal but pace of shot may have taken him by surprise. Smart late save. Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group

A few wayward passes but did fine tucked in as a third centre-back. Looked more comfortable with the switch to a back four. Photo: Ross Parker - SNS Group

A confident first start since the 2019 Scottish Cup final. Showed his prowess in the air, reading of the game and crisp passing. A welcome return. Photo: Mark Scates - SNS Group

Looks a fine signing. So composed, reads the game excellently, whether has a left-back or centre-back. Strong talker at the back giving Hearts another leader in the team. Photo: Ross Parker - SNS Group
