The 27-year-old has activated a clause in his contract which will allow him to walk away for free after relegation.

Callachan, who played 25 games for Hearts in the 2017/18 season, had arguably his best season to date this past campaign, netting ten goals in the league.

He was a key member of Brian Rice’s squad, playing as a No.10 with the licence to bomb forward and support the forwards.

His form has led to interest from both Scotland and England with Hearts linked with a move for the former Raith Rovers ace last month.

Rice confirmed the exit to Lanarkshire Live.

“I think that Ross Callachan will leave the club this week,” he said. “He’s had a couple of offers and it’s looking as though he will be leaving the club shortly.

"Ross was fantastic for us, we were fantastic for him but he’s moving on.”
