Hearts: Andy Irving sends heartfelt message to fans of boyhood club after Germany move

Andy Irving admitted there was “a lot of thought and consideration” regarding his decision to leave Hearts.

The 21-year-old completed a move to the third tier of German football on Tuesday, joining Türkgücü München.

Irving’s contract had expired at Hearts after 13 years at the club he supported.

The Tynecastle club had hoped to tie him down to an extended deal but Irving, on signing for his new club, revealed he “had the big dream of playing in Germany for some time”.

The midfielder posted a message of thanks to the club and fans on social media.

“After 13 years at Hearts, with a lot of thought and consideration about everything, I have made the decision to move on,” he said.

“The club has played a massive part of my life and has brought me so much pride, both as a fan and as a player.

"As a kid, it was my dream to play for Hearts and I’m extremely grateful I got that opportunity 61 times.

"I have to thank everyone involved throughout my 13 years as they've made it extremely special. Every person from the staff, to the players, to the fans has made my time at Hearts so memorable and I’d like to say thanks.

"All the very best to everyone and thanks again, Andy.”

Meanwhile, Hearts have returned to pre-season training ahead of two friendlies this week, against Berwick Rangers on Friday evening and Linlithgow Rose on Saturday.

Robbie Neilson is hoping to add more players to the squad following the signing of Josh Ginnelly on a two-year deal.
