Hearts finally get their season underway on Tuesday when they welcome Inverness CT to Gorgie in the first competitive match in more than 200 days. The Betfred Cup clash will see Robbie Neilson pick his first XI since depart for MK Dons back in 2016.
Taking into consideration Peter Haring’s continued progression to full fitness, could this be Neilson’s starting XI going forward (Liam Boyce and Michael Smith likely to miss first couple of games due to international commitments)?

The undisputed No.1. A sensational penalty stop in the friendly against Partick Thistle reminded those who needed it the quality he possesses. A huge improvement on last season. Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group
. Right-back - Michael Smith
Who else? Honestly, who else. Hearts could have Trent Alexander-Arnold in the squad and fans would still prefer Smith. Photo: Mark Scates - SNS Group
. Centre-back - Craig Halkett
Continues to show his goalscoring ability. More will be expected in a defensive sense this season and should hopefully be helped by steering clear of injury and having a regular partner. Photo: Mark Scates - SNS Group
