Jamestown Analytics handed shout-out by Premiership rival after Hearts transfer raid launched

Defender secured Kilmarnock loan move on deadline day

Hearts’ player recruitment partner Jamestown Analytics was referenced by Kilmarnock in their announcement of the loan signing of Jambos defender MJ Kamson-Kamara.

The 20-year old was drafted in by Killie boss Neil McCann after an injury to centre back Robbie Deas. Kamson-Kamara will help provide cover in this area until January 2027 after penning the short-term move. The Englishman joined Hearts in the summer from EFL Championship side Lincoln City on a four-year deal - but hasn’t been able to establish himself as a first-team regular.

Hearts partnered with Jamestown Analytics in November 2024 to gain exclusive access to advanced player data and recruitment services. Kamson-Kamara was identified by the firm - which also uncovered the hidden gems of current striker Claudio Braga and former winger Alexandros Kyziridis among others. During Killie’s announcement of the Jambos loan signing, they were keen to make supporters aware that this is how the defender was unearthed.

Killie shout-out Jamestown in Kamson-Kamara loan deal

A Kilmarnock statement read: “Kilmarnock Football Club is pleased to confirm the arrival of MJ Kamson-Kamara on loan from Heart of Midlothian, subject to Scottish FA approval. The 20-year-old joins on loan from last season’s Scottish Premiership runner-up until January 2027. An athletic centre-back, MJ signed for the Tynecastle side this summer having been identified by Jamestown Analytics, following his impressive performances at Glentoran last season.”

Despite a strong end to last season, McCann’s men have kicked off the 2026/27 Premiership campaign with four defeats in four, conceding 14 league goals in the process. The Hearts loanee will be tasked with plugging the leaks over the next five months. His only appearance in a maroon jersey so far came in the second leg of their Europa League qualifier against Portuguese giants Benfica.

McCann asks for ‘a little bit of steel’

The Kilmarnock boss will be hoping Kamson-Kamara can provide a ‘little bit of steel’ at the back - words he used after their 4-0 defeat at home to Dundee United last week. The former Hearts winger remains confident he can turn his team’s fortunes around. He told the BBC: "I still completely believe in this squad and that what we're doing will bear fruit. I'm positive of that.

"I know it looks a bit vulnerable. When we concede a goal, you can see that maybe knocks us. But we need to just find that little bit of steel. I said to the players, you'll be asked questions because of the goals we've conceded. The goal difference doesn't look that pretty right now. The squad we've assembled is more than good enough to start picking up wins and, once we do, then we'll catch fire.”
