January Hearts target Elijah Adebayo moves for six-figure fee

The 23-year-old joined the Hatters for an undisclosed fee, reported to be around £250,000 and is set to face Huddersfield, who were also keen on the striker, this weekend.

Adebayo was subject of strong interest from Hearts with the player and club agreeing a deal. However, Walsall were reluctant to sell.

Robbie Neilson and Joe Savage switched targets, bringing in towering Frenchman Armand Gnanduillet instead who went on to score twice on his debut against Raith Rovers.

Luton boss Nathan Jones said: “He is someone who was coveted by a lot of clubs, because he’s one that has massive, massive potential.

“He’s a big physical presence, something that we haven’t got, and he’s someone that we’ve been watching for a while.

“He’s one that will develop here and hopefully become a top player for us.”
