Despite the Tykes struggling at the bottom of the second tier it didn't dent his standing among fans.
Following his departure, Stendel and assistant Chris Stern were invited to a 'leaving party' by Barnsley supporters, and they turned up to drink with fans.
The German was filmed downing shots as he celebrated his time at the club.
Hearts fans will be hoping that he will be doing the same in Gorgie, but after bringing a cup back to EH11.
