'Massive kick in the teeth to fans': Hearts supporters rage at club's decision to loan Zdenek Zlamal to St Mirren

Hearts have decided to lend Zdenek Zlamal to St Mirren on an emergency loan deal after two positive Covid-19 tests decimated the Paisley club’s goalkeeping corps.

While manager Robbie Neilson said it was a good move for the Tynecastle side as it meant Zlamal could get some playing time before the season starts for Hearts in October, the fans were less than impressed.

St Mirren were one of the clubs who voted to end the Scottish Premiership season prematurely and voted against reconstruction, both of which contributed to the club’s demotion from the top flight. Therefore, the Hearts support felt like they shouldn’t be doing the Buddies any favours – even if they are playing Hibs today.

@C71Gareth: "Been through enough and you do this! Maybe it’s a case of being the “bigger man” so to speak but what a way to alienate the fans - did you not see their “heartbreaker” tweet a couple of days ago?"

@jamborobbo1874: "Really struggling to believe you have done this. Massive kick in the teeth to fans. Who donate way more than any st mirren loan fee EVERY MONTH."

@WeegieJambo: "Ah well, 'Only Hearts' lasted long. Not even started the season and the slogan needs shelved. Another poor decision by the board, continually misjudging supporters expectations. We've given everything to the club the last 5 years and been given very little back."

@NvrTrustVelcro: "Absolute shambles. No upside to this. Helping one of the clubs who shafted us for their own benefit. 1 game will not have any impact whatsoever on any interest from other clubs in signing him, so I cannot see why we have agreed to this. Shambles."

@perthtopaisley: "Shouldn’t be helping them out whatsoever. Embarrassing."

@cecil_stoatie: "Wrong call on so many fronts - a club that actively campaigned to force our ejection, to block reconstruction - openly said we deserved all we got - and now advertises this very game with “heart breaker”. Own goal HMFC. Remember Only Hearts."

@neiIsxn: "Why are we acting so tinpot."

@jand1987: "“Alright mate? Listen I’m sorry for what I put on social media wiz just looking for some attention and it was poor patter on my part sorry mate how are you? Listen what I’m really calling for is I need a lend. Sorry again mate” - St Mirren chairman"

@RobertMitchell_: "Unless he throws the ball in the back of the net every game he plays this is a odd one likes."

@DavRos81: "Why did nobody step in to stop this from happening? Surely one person had the sense to know how sick to the stomach this would make the fans. We need answers."

@craigcuth: "Hearts continuing to do their best to separate fans and club, bizarre.”
