The Australian is hailed as an inspiring figure for others

Cammy Devlin has extended his stay at Hearts by 12 months after signing a contract extension until 2026. The Australian midfielder held initial talks with the club a number of weeks ago, and those have progressed to an agreement to keep him at Tynecastle Park.

Head coach Steven Naismith acclaimed Devlin as an inspirational figure after moving to Scotland from his homeland and earning a place in Australia’s 2022 World Cup squad. Hearts have also held talks with goalkeeper Zander Clark about extending his deal, which is due to expire at the end of the season. It is hoped those discussions will reach a successful conclusion in the near future.

Devlin’s agreement follows new contracts for the Hearts management team last month. Discussing the midfielder’s deal with the official club website, Naismith said: “I’m really happy that Cammy has committed himself to the club. Cammy’s story should be an inspiring one to younger players; a guy who came halfway across the world, established himself as a top player in a completely new environment, gained international recognition and went to a World Cup.

“He gives his all in training and in matches, and has a real desire to improve himself and the team. His character is second to none and I’m delighted that he will continue to be part of this side for the next two years.”
