Olly Lee has likely played his last game for Hearts after the midfielder agreed to rejoin Gillingham on loan for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.

The 29-year-old is in the final six months of his contract and has been allowed to return down south to be closer to his family.

Manager Robbie Neilson said in a statement on the club’s website: “Olly’s contract is up at the end of the season and after some very amicable discussions between both parties it was decided that he would move on.

“Olly has a young family and the opportunity to return to Gillingham allows him to go back down south and be closer to his family, so we wish him well.”

Lee will be most fondly remembered for scoring the winning goal in a December 2018 victory for Hearts over rivals Hibs at Easter Road.

He spent the entire 2019/20 season on loan with Gillingham after falling out of favour with previous boss Craig Levein.
