Robbie Neilson: I've spoken to Josh Ginnelly a number of times about his Hearts future

Hearts remain keen to sign Josh Ginnelly permanently and are currently negotiating terms with the Preston North End winger.

Ginnelly is on loan at Tynecastle Park until the end of the season but a ruptured hamstring ended his campaign prematurely in January.

With his Preston contract due to expire this summer, he is in talks about staying in Scotland on a permanent basis.

The Hearts sporting director Joe Savage is conducting discussions on the club’s behalf and manager Robbie Neilson has also been involved.

“I've spoken to Josh a number of times. We want to keep him, he wants to stay, so that's a good starting point,” Neilson told the Evening News. “Like any of these things, it will come down to negotiations. If both parties want to get the deal done, generally it gets done.”

Ginnelly, 24, made ten appearances and scored four goals for Hearts prior to his season-ending injury and became a favourite with supporters.
