The Jambos prepared for next Saturday’s trip to Hampden with a hard-fought 1-0 win away at Arbroath, with Craig Wighton scoring the only goal of the game and Hearts making it two wins out of two in the Championship.

Neilson can now look forward totally to delayed last-four tie, with the eagerly-anticipated showdown with their neighbours having bubbled away in the background. Neilson will be in attendance in Ayrshire today to cast a close eye on Jack Ross’ team.

“I’m heading to Kilmarnock,” said Neilson. “The boys will train this morning and then I’ll go straight down to watch Hibs at Rugby Park and have a look at them. We know how they play, we’ve watched a lot of their games and we’ve got an idea of how we’ll hopefully go and win the match.”
