The 27-year-old, who spent last season on loan at St Johnstone, played more than 70 times for Hearts, including the first half of the 2014/2015 Championship winning campaign.

It followed confirmation earlier in the month that Dundee United would be releasing Osman Sow.

The Swedish forward was a huge hit in Gorgie and earned a £1.5million move to China following impressive form. He has continued a somewhat nomadic career since leaving Hearts, including spells in the Emirates, England and a loan stint at Kilmarnock.

Former Hibs and Hearts creative midfielder Danny Swanson confirmed that he would not be getting a new deal at St Johnstone.

The 33-year-old made just 11 appearances in his third stint with the Perth side.

Swanson had a short spell at Hearts between his first and second move to Saints, and it was his form during the second period which earned him a move to boyhood club Hibs.

“There was interest from America and I was keeping tabs on that,” he said. “I have had calls from a few clubs but they aren’t in a position to offer a contract at the moment.

Meanwhile, ex-Hearts midfielder Ross Callachan is also expected to leave St Johnstone. The 26-year-old was most recently on loan at Dundee.

Kilmarnock revealed they currently have 11 players contracted for next season with confirmation that Scotland international Stephen O’Donnell would be leaving the club.

Goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald, formerly of Hearts, is out of contract but is one of the players the club are currently in talks with over a renewal.
