The game, which for Hearts was largely meaningless with the Championship title wrapped up, was forgettable with little goalmouth action.

That being said, supporters were expecting a lot more from the league winners, especially after the 6-0 win over Alloa.

@MatthewHarold83: “Hearts ended that game with 156 international caps on the pitch and looked like the team struggling near the bottom.”

@LewisGMitchell: “Hearts play more backwards passes than a rugby team”

@ffppaul: "So bad it verged on illegal."

@HeartsRant: “The thought of this team jumping about behind a “Champions” hoarding spraying champagne about is galling. It’d genuinely be a massive embarrassment to this 147 year old institution.”

@Benm501: “Pass to midfield, pass back to defence, pass it about the back for a bit, punt it long......and repeat”

@maroonspecs: “Forgot the game was on BBC. Tuned in for the final 15 minutes and can honestly say it was the worst 15 minutes of a day that has also involved work and looking after a miserable teething 1-year old who's had her jabs.”

@mrewanmurray: “A lot of people are keen to portray Hearts supporters as unreasonable. That’s 10 games out of 25 not won in the second tier, on top of cup fiascos that aren’t worth reiterating. Routinely passive, pedestrian, blunt, timid football (and especially woeful away from home).”

@TS_Nicoll: “Can’t get myself too worked up about that showing on an awful pitch, when the league has already been won, against a team scrapping to avoid relegation. A performance and result that will give the Neilson-out crowd everything that they want though…”

@dalerndll: “Absolutely zero sympathy for anyone that chose to watch that tonight”

@graha1874: “180 more minutes. Then let’s never speak of the last seven months again”

@jambohoggie: “That was truly awful. One of the worst games I've seen this season and that's saying something.”

@TheOldCastleRo1: “More of the same pedestrian stale play. That starting eleven is the core of what we will be beginning next season with, which is so, so worrying.”

@RyanGibson10TTV: “THIS. IS. FOOTBALL.”

@sean51pearce: “Well, I’m not getting that 90 mins of my life back.”
