With Hamer unavailable at the weekend, the 24-year-old was handed his chance but gave up four goals from the seven shots he faced.
Pereira, who conceded 43 goals in 25 Hearts appearances, was unfortunate with the first Stoke City goal, a wicked deflection taking the ball away from him. The game, however, went downhill afterwards for the goalkeeper.

The third goal was a result of Huddersfield’s style of playing from the back. Under pressure, Pereira passed the ball straight to Tyrese Campbell, scorer of the first two goals, before his cross was diverted into the net by defender Richard Stearman. It was the only short pass which was inaccurate.
The fourth goal flew past a crouching Pereira despite its placement in the centre of the goal.

He said: “We made mistakes playing out in the second and third goals, and we must take responsibility as a team.
“There are several details that we didn’t get right in these moments, so that we could avoid this. We must always guarantee the structure in defence too.”
