The victory moved the Kirkcaldy side on to 36 points, ten behind the league leaders with five games remaining. Dundee are a further three points back with a game in hand.

Hearts travel to East End Park this weekend to face the Pars, while both Raith Rovers and Dundee are in Scottish Cup action.

Dunfermline have won just four league games in their past 16 since defeating the Jambos in Fife earlier in the season.

Bouncing back from defeats to Brora Rangers and Queen of the South with three points against the Pars will put Robbie Neilson’s men within one win of the title.

A return to the Premiership will be secured if they follow up a win over Dunfermline with victory at home to Alloa Athletic.

It will ensure the objective of promotion is achieved even if manager and board remain under scrutiny from supporters.
