Who is Hearts debutant Scott McGill - the teenage midfielder?

The 18-year-old versatile midfielder replaces Andy Irving alongside Olly Lee in the starting XI.

McGill won’t be a new name to some Hearts fans after coming off the bench in the final pre-season friendly against Partick Thistle at Firhill.

He is an SFA Performance School graduate and was one of nine youngsters to sign professional terms back in November alongside the likes of Aaron Hickey and Cammy Logan.

Reserve coach at the time Andy Kirk gave an insight into the player.

“Scott is a midfield player who can play centrally or sometimes on the right-hand side,” he said. “ He can also play in the No.10 role, so he is quite versatile. Over a period of time we will figure out what is the best position for him. He has played in a few different areas for our under-17s and under-15s in recent seasons.”
