The 36-year-old was called inside when warming up during the interval before being seen jogging around the side of the pitch with his bag before leaving the stadium via the Gorgie Road end.

Berra did so due to family reasons with wife Carla going back into labour.

"Christophe's wife went into labour," manager Robbie Neilson explained.

“She went in this morning, came back out again, but he got a phonecall at half-time to say that was her, she was at the hospital, so he shot away at half-time to take care of that.

"We wish him and his wife all the best.”

The centre-back has been on the bench for the last four matches and missed what was an eventful second half as the side went behind before rescuing a point thanks to Jamie Walker’s header.
