Hibs Ladies boss unhappy after cheap Rangers goals

Hibs Ladies boss Chris Roberts says his team must improve defensively despite getting their SWPL 1 2017 campaign off to a winning start.

Goals from Abi Harrison, Siobhan Hunter and a Lucy Graham brace gave the Hibees their first points of the new season with a 4-2 victory over Rangers at New Tinto Park in Glasgow.

However, having raced into a four-goal lead, the hosts set up a nervy finish with a quick-fire double in the final 15 minutes to test the Capital side’s nerves.

“I’m obviously happy to get the three points but we conceded two goals near the end which is disappointing,” Roberts said. “I thought we should have converted more of the chances we created. We want to keep clean sheets too so we need to do better than that.”

Elsewhere in SWPL 1, Spartans allowed a two-goal lead to slip as they drew 2-2 at Aberdeen. In SWPL 2, Hearts Women defeated Buchan Ladies 3-1 at King’s Park in Dalkeith and Edinburgh University Hutchison Vale were beaten 2-1 by Glasgow Girls at East Peffermill.
