Fans were already queuing before the Easter Road club’s ticket office opened and such was the demand, a decision was made late afternoon to turn people away to ensure those already waiting could be served before the end of business, with the advice to them being to buy by phone or on-line.

Hundreds were said to be in the queue at any one time with a 90-minute wait to be served. Sales resumed this morning with season ticket holders reminded they have until Friday morning to secure their seat before they are released for general sale.

The fact the match, which will decide whether Hibs or Hearts are at home to Inverness in the quarter-finals, won’t be televised live is certain to drive demand with Hearts ticket office also busy, the Tynecastle club’s supporters having been allocated the entire South Stand at Easter Road, some 3800 tickets.

Cup top up vouchers for Hibs season ticket holders who took up that option will be valid for the tie. Tickets are priced £28 (adults) and £14 (concessions) while hospitality packages, costing £150 per person, are also available with a £30 discount for season ticket holders,

Meanwhile, the SFA have revealed that referee John Beaton will take charge of the game.
