Adam Bogdan’s contract with Hibs has been extended until the end of the season.

The Hungarian internationalist, who spent last term on loan at Easter Road from Liverpool, returned to the Edinburgh club more than two months ago on a short-term deal which was due to expire this month.

With Chris Maxwell’s loan from Preston North End set to be cut short - Blackpool have been linked with the Englishman - Bogdan will provide competition and cover for Israeli Ofir Marciano between now and the end of the season.

“As I said in November, it feels so natural for me to be back at Hibernian,” Bogdan told Hibs’ website. “I know the players, the staff and the club inside-out and vice versa. My family and I are also really settled in the city.

“I was always hopeful that we would extend the agreement and the offer to go to the training camp in Spain was a show of faith from both sides. I read some kinds words from Ofir talking about me and it goes without saying that I have a lot of respect for him.

“We help each other out on a daily basis and try to keep standards high but, like any player, I want to do everything that I can to play. There’s healthy competition there.”

Bogdan made 25 appearances for Hibs under Neil Lennon last season before a serious concussion sustained last January led to him being sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.
