Christian Doidge out, Ofir Marciano and Kyle Magennis doubtful, as Hibs squad stretched ahead of Rangers clash

Hibs will be without Christian Doidge for the Boxing Day trip to Ibrox after the striker was sent off against St Mirren and, with both Kyle Magennis and Ofir Marciano leaving the field prematurely with tight hamstrings, it leaves Easter Road boss Jack Ross reassessing his plans.

The Welshman picked up two yellow cards late in the game and was jettisoned in the 88th minute and while Ross had no arguments with the first booking, he was disappointed with the second.

“The first one is deserved, no complaints. The second one, there is no intent – I know there is no intent and although I can understand, potentially, why it’s been given, I would still argue the case. But, of course, there’s no chance to appeal anyway.

“He’s been great for me but now he gets an enforced rest, which might be good for him because he’s put a lot into the last few weeks. I would much rather have him but we’ve got to find a way to win at Ibrox and we will adjust that a little bit now.

“At this stage of the season you accept that you need to adjust your plans for injury or suspension.”

There are already a few players sidelined with injuries and Ross said that none of them are expected to be for enough for the meeting with the league leaders, ruling out Stevie Mallan, Sean Mackie, Scott Allan and Jamie Murphy, who would have been ineligible for the head to head with his parent club anyway.
