'Everyone could have predicted Aberdeen would be above Hibs' - Dons midfielder Funso Ojo on transfer decision
Funso Ojo has taken a swipe at Hibs over a possible move this past summer
Aberdeen midfielder Funso Ojo sent a pointed message regarding his decision to join the Dons ahead of Hibs in the summer.
The 28-year-old irritated former Easter Road boss Paul Heckingbottom after talks over a switch to Leith from Scunthorpe United.
After positive discussions with Heckingbottom, and even being shown around the stadium, Ojo left Hibs hanging as Aberdeen swooped in with a reported better offer.
The Hibs boss at the time said: "You’ve got to come here for the right reasons. If they don’t then that’s fine, they value something else.
“The only players I’m bothered about are the ones in our dressing room and we have to be sure that we get good people in our dressing room.”
Ojo said he possibility of better opportunities saw him move to Aberdeen. And he has stoked the fire once more.
“Everyone could have predicted Aberdeen would end up higher than Hibs," he told Scottish Sun.
“But Hibs wanted me to sign because they felt that I would enjoy playing for them more. They had a rocky start and the manager’s been sacked, so I don’t think I’d have enjoyed it.”
“Hibs told me we would never train here. Maybe they were right about the planned new stadium from what we have been hearing in the last couple of weeks.
“But the training ground is definitely here, so that’s a big bonus."
