Ex Hibs star Jose Mourinho raved about could complete deadline day transfer as he 'needs' Premier League exit
The Tottenham player spent last season’s second half on loan at Hibs.
A former Hibs player could leave Tottenham on transfer deadline day amid his need for a fresh start.
Dane Scarlett spent the second half of last season on loan at Easter Road but is now back with the Premier League side managed by Roberto De Zerbi. The former England youth international has been involved in pre-season work but hasn’t featured in competitive squads so far.
Scotland’s transfer window is open until Thursday but England’s shuts on Tuesday night. It’s been claimed that Scarlett now is likely to leave Tottenham either on England’s deadline day or at the end of his contract this term. That is needed if he is to fulfil the potential managers like Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte spotted.
Who could leave Tottenham on deadline day?
Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold told Talking Tottenham: “Dane he’s in the last 10 months now of his deal. From what I understand I do not think Tottenham have an option to extend that. There are a lot of options open to him and they have just got to pick the right move for him really. There was such a player there and he just hasn’t kicked on. He needs to score goals.
“He’s a striker that hasn’t really scored the goals. That is the problem. Mourinho raved about him as a youngster, Conte raved about him as a youngster, Nuno raved about him as a youngster I can remember as well. It just hasn’t happened for him and he needs to get that fresh start as well.”
Scarlett played 13 times with one goal at Hibs, that strike being a memorable one, a late winner away to Rangers post-split in the Premiership’s top six. He said of moving to Easter Road in the winter transfer window: "I'm really happy to finally be here. I flew over and I can't wait to get started. It's obviously a massive club and it's got great history, and it's a new challenge for me really.

Why did Dane Scarlett move to Hibs?
“I've never been outside England to play football, so it's a new challenge and I'm ready to go. I've been looking to get out on loan for the last few weeks. Once I knew Hibs wanted me and made contact, it was a no-brainer for me. I'm ready to go. Playing for your country is probably the best experience that you can get as a young player, I feel.
“I've played a lot of games, scored lots of goals there and I'm just trying to do that here now. I'd say hard-working. I like to press, and scoring goals is my favourite thing in the world. I obviously like to create as well and just help the team and do what I need to do for the team. I just want to score lots of goals, play a lot of football.”
